kPicasa Gallery PHP4MOD v0.1.4

February 27, 2008 – 8:08 pm

I have released a new version of kPicasa Gallery PHP4MOD based on the original kPicasa Gallery v0.1.4. It includes no new features but an improved fetch routine done by Guillaume and I’ve added some fixes. Enjoy!

Note: The previous version (v0.1.3) introduced a new feature to configure the thumbnail size of your photos which is not included in the original one.

  2. Hallo, its me again…
    i am really happy with php4mod but… :D

is it posible, to check if visitor have “JavaScript” enabled and if they don`t, using an other type to view the image (e.g. open in a new page, with next and last image links)?

because now, when JS is enabled, everything is working fine and by clicking on the thumbs, the picture is displayed in lightbox or highslide.
but when JS isn’t enabled, only a “save as…” dialog popup, and it is really exhausting to whatch the gallery.

hope sb or david finds a solution…

    thanks a lot
    Bernhard

  3. Bernhard, compared to the effort such a feature isn’t very useful. Especially you will hardly find any browsers without JavaScript. In which case is your JavaScript disabled?

    Cheers

  5. is it possible to embed album display as a widget? great stuff, thanks for making it possible with php4!!

By sean on Mar 22, 2008

  6. Louis, the reason may be one off following:

    * You have JavaScript disabled
    * Your Wordpress Template doesn’t include the required JavaScript librarys in the header.
    * You click too fast (the loading of the page has not finished yet).

Sean, sorry unfortunately not.. (but I keep it in mind ;-)

  7. Hi, I love this plugin and I’m planning on using it as soon as I leave for my trip to Europe. I’ve tested it on wordpress 2.3 and now since I’ve upgraded to 2.5 it doesn’t seem to work.

Is this plugin 2.5 compatible at this point? If not, when are you planning on releasing a compatible plug-in for 2.5

*I’m currently using the PHP4Mod version of your plugin.

    Thanks,

    RG

  8. AWESOME~! I love this. One question tho… THe limit at Picasa is 500 images per album. I have an album there with 500 images. KPicasa drops dead when I try to access that album… Is there a limit to the number of pics it can handle in an album? I do have the number of pics per page set to 25, it just doesn’t seem to be able to digest a list of 500 images is all…

I could find this out by trial and error (and may have to if it’s my ISP being lame (big surprise -_-) but I thought I’d ask…

    Once again, great pluggy!

  9. Oh - it’s v0.1.4…

By Yorokobi on Apr 2, 2008

  10. Well… it would appear that with my ISP, 1and1, that around 100 is the limit. 150 was too much, so I settled for around 100 per gallery - 118 is the max amount I have in any given gallery and it loads fine.

By Yorokobi on Apr 4, 2008

  11. @PTM: Happy that you like this plugin. Some minutes ago I’ve tested it with Wordpress 2.5 - and it works fine! Maybe you have to recheck your settings? What’s wrong?

@Yorokobi: Thanks for the info! So now you are fine? ;-)

By david on Apr 8, 2008

  12. David, yeah it stopped working after I upgraded to wp 2.5. I’m using the PHP4Mod version. I’m not sure if that matters or not?

It’s activated, the picasa username is correct in settings, and when I type KPICASA_GALLERY in a post/page it simply just shows the text “KPICASA_GALLERY” on the page or post instead of creating the gallery.

    ????

    Thanks

    RG

By PTM on Apr 8, 2008

  13. I just tried removing and reinstalling the plugin and it does the same exact thing… just shows the Text KPICASA_GALLERY on the page/post, doesn’t create the gallery.

  14. I figured it out! I had recently added a plugin called “Add to Any Bookmark Button” and it conflicts with KPicasa some how. I deactivated the Add to Any Bookmark plugin and KPicasa works fine.

We never learn about issues until we run into them.

I love the Add To Any plugin… which stinks. Now I have to try to figure out why this conflicts? Does anybody else have this issue?

The only thing I can think of is that the Add To Any bookmark button is placed on each page and post… so when I created a photo gallery page with Kpicasa, on that gallery page the Bookmark button was there. Maybe that conflicted with Kpicasa? Anybody have any ideas?

  15. I get an errormessage with the newest version of the plugin:

Error: kPicasa Gallery tried to connect to Picasa Web Albums using file_get_contents() and failed. Your web host is probably blocking outgoing requests.

By Henrik Sundholm on May 10, 2008

  16. As the errormessage is saying you hoster is blocking connections from the plugin to google picasa. Try to contact them - maybe they can help you :)

  19. Hi Shah,
looks like you have an old Wordpress version. You’ll need at least 2.2.

  21. I haven’t tested with WP 2.6 yet. Quite busy. Anyone any ideas anything has changed regarding “get_option()”?

By admin on Jul 22, 2008

  22. I have the same problem after upgrading to 2.6 as do these guys http://wordpress.org/support/topic/189500?replies=3

Doing a quick google search gave me this http://planetozh.com/blog/2008/07/what-plugin-coders-must-know-about-wordpress-26/all-comments/

….which may or may not help. I hope its the former :) and we can get this plugin up and running again as I have had to stop using it for the time being.

  23. Hi,

After I upgraded to WordPress 2.6 (even reinstalled the plugin) but from that moment I can no longer access the settings anymore. (the albums are still working)

    It is trying to open
http://uijttewaal.com/wp-content/plugins/kpicasa-gallery-php4mod/param.php but it should actually be http://uijttewaal.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/kpicasa-gallery-php4mod/param.php (notice /blog in the URL)

If I change the URL and try to open it, it doesnt work also and gives error on line 3 of param.php.

Other plugins dont have any problem and I have a really straight-forward setting of WordPress.

    Thanks for your help!

PS: Your plugin is really cool!!!

    Cheers,
    Pim

  24. Guys thank you for the notice that it’s not compatible with WP 2.6. Currently I’m living in India. As I’m doing my Social Service here and I’m very busy with my work I can’t provide a fix in the near future. Would be great If you check out the original KPicasa Gallery and patch yourself meanwhile. Thanks for your understanding!

  25. I hope you do not mind, I messed around with the code between the 0.1.4 of PHP4MOD and the new version of the PHP5 Version (0.1.5) of the original kPicasa and was able to modify the code and get it to work. If you would like to get it you can download it from my server. Click Here for the working version for PHP4.

  26. Guys, here’s the new version: http://www.bitfusion.org/blog/2008/10/15/kpicasa-gallery-php4-v015/

By admin on Oct 15, 2008

  27. Hi!

No matter what I do, I can’t seem to make the thumbnails smaller. I want the thumbnails to be about 100×100px, so they are way too big as they are now. Either way, none of the thumbnail-sizes seem to work, and I didn’t get my own ones to work either after editing the files. I’m no good at php, but I can do small “edits” when I have to.. But this time I couldnt figure it out.

Pleeeeeeeeease help me getting my beloved small thumbnails :D
